Your search is not for something, but for Someone—Jesus has already come looking for you. The message names a wound many already know: you can get what you wanted and still feel empty. That emptiness is the heartache of exile—knowing you belong somewhere and not being able to get there.
Ezekiel watches the glory of the Lord depart the temple, pause at the east gate, and leave the city. Losing land was the visible wound. Losing Presence was the greater one. A generation later Haggai meets people who weep because the new house looks like nothing. God does not scold the tears. He says, “I am with you. My Spirit remains. I will fill this house with glory.”
John 1 and Matthew 1 announce that the promise has a face. The Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. They will call Him Immanuel—God with us. Many did not recognize their Creator. Those who received Him discovered they belonged as children of God.
